Responsibilities:

Lead Project Engineer

1) Responsible for interfacing and communication, in a professional manner, with customers and BigBand Networks personnel the current deployment status, milestones and potential positive or negative consequences of system design changes. Communication media to include but not limited to:

 

• Email; daily status reports

 

• Telephone communications; conference calls

 

• Project status and technology transfer presentations

 

 

2)      Provide technical input and suggestions to the Director / Manager of Project Engineering to create or procure applications or tools necessary to:

 

a. Streamline design reviews

 

b. Standardize installations

 

i.Templates

 

ii. Testing

 

iii. Site Acceptance Testing

 

iv. System Sign Off

 

c. Capture As Built Configurations

 

d. BMR/ / BEQ/ MSP  I/O Standardization

 

e. Fault Isolation / troubleshooting

 

This includes providing input and guidance to Internal BigBand Software Developers and or 3rd party companies / consultants on application development tools.

 

 

3) Provide leadership, direction and mentoring to BigBand Networks Senior Project, Project Engineers and Customer Support engineers on system integration, test, troubleshooting process and procedures of BigBand networks product offerings (i.e. Switch Broadcast System, Digital Program Insertion (DPI), Video (standard definition and high definition) remultiplexing, RateShaping, transportation over passive and switched optical networks, etc. etc.) as well as mastering debugging  interoperability issues with other vendor’s equipment in support of BBND deployments. Escalation point from the Customer Support team for complex technical problems requiring in-depth working knowledge of BBND applications and system deployments.

 

 

4)      Responsible for completion of Project Site Documentation and placed on the Project Engineering internal BBND web site. The site documentation template will include the following categories.

 

□ Executive Summary and Point of Contact List

 

□ Site Address and Point of Contact List

 

□ Remote Access Information

 

□ As Build Drawings to include

 

BMR configurations

 

Software Usage

 

Serial Numbers

 

License Audit

 

MPTS Information

 

□ Site Specific Information to help in fault isolation

 

□ All information uploaded to Project Engineering Internal Web Site

 

□ Service Ticket information completed in Remedy

 

 

5) Provide detailed (step-by-step) method of procedure (MoP) documentation of BBND application configuration(s) to be used by other BBND project engineers, technical support engineers and customers in the setup, test and upgrades of BBND product offerings.

 

 

6) Utilize the BBND Action Request System (i.e. Remedy) for assist inventory of deployed BBND system components, customer trouble and installation service ticket(s).

 

 

7) Identify and advice on any emergent issues or risks of the project developments. Provide resolution of any conflict on technical issues with the project that can not be resolved by the BBND project engineer.

 

 

8) Report time spent on weekly activities, in the manner and timeframe required by the Vice President of Customer Support.

 

 

Requirements:

 

BSEE in CS or EE

 

Language: Pearl, C ++, Java, HTML

 

OS: Unix, VxWorks, Windows

 

Familiarity with BigBand Networks products is a plus
