Test Automation Engineer #772A

Responsibilities:

  • Test Automation engineer’s primary objective is to automate different applications for testing purposes.
  • Automating the applications will give an edge to testers and others users who engage in testing by reducing their test time.
  • The majority of the day-to-day activities would include working with our primary scripting languages like TCL/Expect and develop automated scripts using advanced programming skills.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years working experience working in the Telecommunications or computer networking industry as a systems test engineer or system developer
  • Strong understanding of computer networking protocols
  • Extensive coding and scripting experience in an automation environment or production environment.
  • Deep understanding of one or more coding languages (TCL/TK, C, Python, Perl, Expect, Visual Basic.)
  • Skilled in Linux & Windows 2000/XP, skilled in the use of MS Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Traffic Generation and Bulk Call Test Equipment (IXIA, SmartBits, etc.)
  • Experience with configuration and operation of various WAN routers (Cisco, Juniper, Foundry, etc.)
  • Voice automation is a plus.
  • Strong QA methodology experience including test planning, test reporting, bug management and overall product life cycle.
  • Excellent Written and Oral communications skills, ability to work in a team environment.
  • BSEE/BSCS or MSEE/MSCS
  • Fluent English is a must

Responsibilities:

1. Design and implement the software system on time with good quality.

2. Actively contribute to the overall software development process to improve the quality and efficiency. This includes, but not limited to project planning, requirement defining and clarification. documentation (draft and reviews), design discussion with team members, code reviews, functional reviews, test plan and test system setup, setup and optimize the development environment, fix product defects.

3. Coach and help other team members to meet the team target.

4. Help customer support team and other field personal to handle field issue escalations.

5. Provide timely update on the progress of the project and escalate any current and potential issues to the management.

6. Actively search, acquire and invent new tools, technology and skills to add product innovation and competitiveness, to improve product quality and performance.

7. Coordinate with other functional groups in the company to provide technical assistance and advises.

Requirements:

 •Bachelor in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering

• 3 years experience in software development.  It is better to be Java based telecom software

• Familiar with software development process and tools such as ClearCase and ClearQuest

• Advanced understanding in Linux and Java

• Advanced understanding in java based distributed computing and J2EE technologies

• Experience with High Availability Applications

• Computer networking and data communication technologies such as TCP/IP (DHCP, SNMP, TFTP and DNS)

Develop, modify and execute system and feature test plans, which includes documenting defects.

Assist Development Engineers in debugging of issues and validation of modification of the application software.

Using all existing tools of the SQA department (defect tracking system, database test tracking, etc.)

Ability to interface in a professional manner with our customers is essential.  Experience in a customer support environment with demonstrated troubleshooting expertise is required.  Experience with trouble ticketing system such as Remedy is desired.  Cable engineering background and a familiarity with digital video systems as well as MPEG2 transport is important.  Understanding and experience with IP Cable products is desired.  BS in engineering and a min of 5 years experience in a similar role.

As a pre-Sales Engineer for BigBand Networks, you will primarily provide pre-sales support, drive the technical sales agenda, and assure prospects and customers have the right BigBand Networks solutions to meet their needs. You will determine customer requirements, influence evaluation criteria, set customer expectations, conduct demonstrations, perform installations for customer lab and field trials, deliver training and manage the delivery of the solution.  You will need to have an excellent grasp of cable based RF and digital over RF networks including Digital Video head ends, Set-top Boxes, Encoders, Decoders, QAM modulators, conditional access systems, Ethernet switches and routers, optical transport and Hybrid Fiber-Coax Networks.  Knowledge of Korean Cable and ISP market, infrastructure and contacts is mandatory.

You will constantly interact with customers, product marketing, research and development, and account teams to resolve technical issues and create appropriate solutions.  This position is to be based in Seoul interfacing with Korea Cable operators and ISPs through partners.

Responsibilities:

·         Providing pre-sales support in proposing and designing solutions to meet customers’ business and technical requirements based on requirements outlined in RFPs or directly with partners or customers.

·         Developing and conducting effective demonstrations, presentations and training materials geared towards promoting BigBand Network Solutions as they apply to Korean market.

·         Building detailed network drawings, BOM’s and cost estimates.

·         Providing technical support to partners and customers and assisting in BMT and Field trials as required. 

·         Significant communication with partners, prospects and customer sites within South Korea, including trade shows as appropriate.

Requirements:

·         Minimum of 5 years experience as a Sales Engineer, Operations Engineer or Technical Consultant in the analog and digital video over HFC networks industry. 

·         Strong presentation and customer relationship skills including the ability to deliver clear, organized, and interesting presentations to the audience.

·         Knowledge of MPEG2, MPEG4, and other related CableLabs and SCTE standards required. 

·         Project Management experience highly desirable.

·         Hands on experience with operating and configuring digital video processing equipment required.

·         Hands on experience with IP related switches, routers, servers, QAM’s, and DOCSIS media processing equipment a definite plus.

·         Linux/Unix experience as a Systems Administrator - able to install, configure and debug software.  

·         Network engineering expertise - TCP/IP, UDP/IP, Optical xWDM, Network administration and troubleshooting - CCIE/CCNA and SCTE Video certifications a plus

·         Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to work well both independently and as a proactive team member

·         Effective writing skills; ability to support the development of technically focused, solutions-oriented sales proposals.

·         Proficient in using MS Word, Outlook, Excel and Visio.

·         Excellent follow through and sales skills - tenacity on behalf of the customer and the company is expected

·         Bachelor degree in computer science, information systems, or demonstration of equivalent experience and knowledge.
