This Web Based Live Presentation includes essential information needed to analyze a Switched Digital Video (SDV) system. Participants are shown a functioning SVA system with log files from an SDV deployment of 224 service groups. Participants learn how to administrate the SVA server, identify potential hot spots, and channel usage trends for all or select service groups.

Universal Edge QAM Installation and Configuration Webinar

This half day webinar covers the BEQ6000A chassis installation and operation.  The student will become familiar with the basic administration and configuration of the Edge QAM using the command line interface.  In addition, the student will understand the configuration of the Edge QAM using the graphical user interface.  The webinar includes configuring the Edge QAM as part of a modular CMTS solution, a Switched Digital Video network and a Video on Demand network.  The final unit of the course provides an overview of the troubleshooting tools available for the Edge QAM.


Customer Service Representatives (CSR) Webinar

This training webinar contains essential information for Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) to effectively support a Switched Digital Video Broadcast (SDV) Launch.  CSRs are taught how SDV can provide additional program services.  Potential SDV customer facing issues are taught to effectively handle customer issues.

Course Descriptions

BigBand BMR® Platform

This course comprises three days of classroom and lab instruction. Participants learn comprehensive configuration and operation of the versatile BigBand BMR (Broadband Multimedia-Service Router), how to best utilize multiple video service solutions on the platform, and trouble-shooting techniques. The course also provides perspective on networked deployments of the BMR and its interoperability with other network elements including BigBand Networks' encoding, decoding and edge modulation platforms.

Switched Video Analysis (SVA)

This course provides essential information to analyze a Switched Digital Video (SDV) system and health of its service groups.  Participants receive structured hands-on exercises on a functioning SVA system, using  log files from a previous SDV deployment of 224 service groups.

Topics include:

  • Switched Digital Overview
  • SBSS and service group (SG) connection options to multiple QAM chassis
  • SVA’s Report Generator
  • How to identify Network Usage, Performance and Traffic Statistics across one or more service groups
  • How to identify program channels that provide a bandwidth savings across one or more service groups on the switched digital tier.

Switched Digital Video  (SDV)

This course provides essential information to configure and troubleshoot an end-to-end Switched Digital Video (SDV) System.  Participants receive structured hands-on exercises on a functioning end-to-end SDV system, to configure and troubleshoot acquisition, transport and edge devices.  Headend acquisition/transport stages include: BigBand’s System Management Unit (SMU), Switched Broadcast Manager, and BMR 1200..  Edge components include BigBand’s redundant Switched-Broadcast-Session Servers (SBSS’), BEQ6000 RF QAM Chassis, and settop boxes.
